Nikolas, 17 months

Our little explorer! Full of energy and curiosity, Nikolas is always ready to give high fives and fist bumps to everyone we meet. Watching him grow and hit milestones on the road has been an incredible experience. From learning to walk to riding a balance bike, he’s embracing this journey just as much as we are.

Our Story

We met in December 2017, got married in September 2019, and welcomed our bundle of joy, Nikolas, in July 2022. As much as we loved our life in Slovakia, the daily grind of 9-5 jobs, traffic jams, and the constant rush left us yearning for something more – the thrill of adventure, the priceless gift of time spent together as a family and the freedom to explore the world on our own terms.

The Big Decision

Our dream of exploring Australia began years ago. I fell in love with this incredible country during my travels in 2013, and since then, I couldn’t shake the desire to return. Adrian caught the travel bug after meeting me, and together we explored Italy, the Netherlands, and Mallorca. But the thought of a grand Australian adventure kept calling us.

Our love for travel and the desire to escape the routine led us to make a bold decision: to embark on a year-long adventure around Australia in a caravan. It wasn’t an easy decision to make, especially breaking the news to our families about taking their beloved grandchild away for a whole year. However, this dream had been brewing for years and eventually our wanderlust won, we sold everything we could, saved up every penny, and in December 2023, we finally took the plunge and applied for a one-year visa. With Nikolas just 17 months old, we knew it will be a challenging time, but our determination and excitement kept us going. When we got the visa, our hearts leapt with joy – it was happening for real!

 Our Journey Begins

After packing up for the trip and saying heartbreaking goodbyes to our families we flew to the other side of the world, some 13000 kms from home. We were lucky to have good friends in Perth who welcomed us and accommodated us in their cozy home while we hunted for the perfect setup. It took us three weeks to find our perfect travel companions—a Toyota Land Cruiser 200 and a Nova Family Escape caravan. Another week of shopping and equipping, and we were ready to hit the road.

On January 8th, 2024, we set off from Perth, heading south to begin our epic anticlockwise coastal lap around Australia. The thrill of embarking on this adventure was beyond words, and we couldn’t wait to see where the road would take us.
